В структурно-функциональном исследовании энзиматического метилирования эукариотических ДНК существует значительный пробел, связанный с изучением только Срв-типа этой модификации. Только в настоящее время выясняется связь других сайт-специфических типов метилирования эукариотических ДНК с разными генетическими функциями.
