Внешне для испытуемых задача SRT напоминает время реакции выбора: есть несколько вариантов стимулов, на каждый из которых следует отвечать определённым образом. Например, достаточно популярна модель с четырьмя стимулами — круглыми или квадратными рамками, выстроенными по горизонтали и поставленными в соответствие четырём пальцам руки.
