В 1998 году группой исследователей Института Макса Планка был предложен новый способ получения микрокапсул — послойная (Layer-by-Layer) электростатическая самосборка (Electrostatic Self-Assembly) противоположно заряженных полиэлектролитов на коллоидных частицах микронных и субмикронных размеров.
