5. У цихлазом наблюдается высокая устойчивость индивидуальных различий в паттернах взмучивания субстрата на протяжении всех стадий развития потомства. Стиль родительской заботы взаимосвязан с темпераментом рыб. Характеристиками темперамента, коррелирующими с высоким уровнем обеспечения кормом и некоторых других форм родительской заботы, являются, прежде всего, «общая смелость», а также активность, расположенность к исследовательскому поведению и низкая агрессивность.

6. Цихлазомы предпочитают в качестве партнеров по размножению наиболее смелых особей, которые после нереста проявляют более качественную родительскую заботу и более высокий уровень обеспечения потомства кормом. Нерест происходит только у тех пар, для которых характерна ассортативность по размеру тела и темпераменту. В противном случае, пары неустойчивы и, как правило, распадаются без нереста.

7. Наиболее вероятным путем возникновения родительского взмучивания субстрата является эволюционное преобразование, протекающее по типу расширения и смены функции от пищедобывательной активности к обеспечению потомства кормом.
