I heard a Fly buzz — when I died — (Я почула, як дзижчить муха, коли вмирала —).
The Stillness in the Room (Недвижность в комнате).
Was like the Stillness in the Air — (Було як спокій у воздухе).
Between the Heaves of Storm — (Між поривами бурі; heave = підйом, позыв).
The Eyes around — had wrung them dry — (Очі навколо висохло насухо; to wring, wrung wrung = жати, выжимать).
And Breaths were gathering firm (І подих готувало сили = літер. «збиралося крепко»)).
For that last Onset — when the King (А останнього тиску, коли Король).
Be witnessed — in the Room — (Був би засвідчений = з’явиться в комнате.).
I willed my Keepsakes — Signed away (Я заповідала свої альбоми, відписала; keepsake = кипсейк, дамський альбом).
What portion of me be (Яка частка мене повинна быть).
Assignable — and then it was (Передана — і саме тоді; to assign = препоручать).
There interposed a Fly — (Втрутилася муха).
With Blue — uncertain stumbling Buzz — (Своїм голубым=печальным, невизначеним, спотыкающимся жужжанием).
Between the light — and me — (Між світлом і мной).
And then the Windows failed — and then (А потім вікна здали — і потім; to fail — здавати, терпіти крах).
I could not see to see — (Не могла бачити, щоб видеть=понять).
I heard a Fly buzz — when I died -;
