Артериальная гипертензия (АГ) является одним из наиболее значимых факторов сердечно-сосудистого риска. Актуальность проблемы АГ, с одной стороны, обусловлена широкой распространенностью (в России до 40% среди взрослого населения и до 25% — среди лиц молодого возраста), с другой стороны — крайне неудовлетворительным контролем артериального давления (АД) в масштабе популяции.
